Based on the vision of Ain Shams University to develop the educational process with all its pillars, the establishment of the Central Unit for Curriculum Development and Learning Methods within the Education Strategy Administration units was approved.
Where the interest in establishing this unit came due to the vital role that curricula, academic programs, and methods of teaching and learning play in preparing Ain Shams University graduates and providing them with competencies that qualify them to work and innovate and keep pace with the scientific and technological developments imposed by the current era on the local and regional labor market.
The academic programs and curricula are one of the most important inputs to the educational process, which must be continuously developed in line with international and academic standards that achieve the specifications of a qualified graduate to compete internationally, and this requires planning and developing study programs in higher education institutions to reach global competition.
From here it is possible to define the basic role of the central unit for developing curricula and learning methods in developing existing curricula and programs in colleges to suit the requirements of the current era, in addition to planning new programs in colleges that contribute to upgrading the classification of Ain Shams University regionally and internationally.

The Central Curriculum development and Teaching Methods is one of the core units of the education strategy administration of the ASU.
The Unit consist of five sub-departments (Curriculum Development Department, Department of Learning Methods Development, Department of Education strategies, Technical Training and Support Department, curriculum committees in faculties).
The central unit of Curriculum Development seeks to "achieve the entrepreneurship of higher education institutions followed ASU by planning and building academic courses suited to global trends in the development of education to achieve competitiveness, and to graduate student competes in the regional and local labor market".
The Central unit of Curriculum Development promotes excellence at the level of education within the faculties of the University, the upgrading of academic programs and teaching and learning methods in line with the latest orientation of education and the university goals. raising the efficiency of faculty and preparing scientific and operational cadres to develop the evaluation process and meet the needs of the labor market .

According to the unit vision and mission, the unit objectives are determined as follows:
1. developing the educational process at ASU facilities at the level of curricula and teaching methods and guide them to improve the qualifications of a student who is suitable for the professions required from him or her after graduation, and to make him or her a lifelong student of science capable of producing information and innovating them, focusing on personal, professional, and public skills to raise the level of graduate.
2. Participation in the planning and design of the bylaws of some of the colleges of the University whose internal bylaws and programs are being designed
3. Providing services and assistance in curriculum and teaching methods domains to other institutions outside Ain Shams University from other universities and research centers inside and outside the country.
4. Building of distinct programs suited to the jobs created in the labor market, such as artificial intelligence, alternative energy, cyberian security and other jobs imposed by the scientific and information revolution, thus contributing to making the graduates of Ain Shams University the preferred choice of employer.
5. Examining global trends and programs in development of curricula and teaching methods domains to apply them within ASU faculties in a manner appropriate to the long-standing vision and mission of our University
6. Building and applying pilot standards for curriculum development and teaching methods at Ain Shams University.
7. Promoting and building a culture of leadership, wall-based learning, and active learning among university colleges
8. Developing a training plan for teaching staff to develop their teaching and professional skills and strengthen the University's strategy.
9. Establishing an advisory committee of teaching staff at the University to discuss the current situation and developments of curricula and teaching methods domains.
10. Cooperation with the curriculum development committees of the various colleges to follow the curricula and teaching procedures within the colleges
11. Technical support to various colleges, especially nascent colleges (under construction), to help implement modern education strategies and develop studying programs.
12. Identification of the training needs of teaching staff to keep pace with new curricula and teaching methodsز
13. Identifying the problems and constraints facing colleges and prevent curriculum development in cooperation with the Education Development Research Unit.
14. Cooperation and coordination with other units of the Education Strategy Administration to achieve the overall development of the educational process.
The strategic plan for the Unit was developed in 2020 in line with the strategic plan for the Department of Education Development of the University of Ain Shams, to build and develop the curriculum system and teaching methods, and in line with the global and international trends and future positions required from the graduate of the University of Ain Shams. The Central Curriculum and Teaching Methods Unit is primarily responsible for a range of activities such as:
* The central unit participated with the coordinators of the Bachelor of Environmental Science program in planning the program
* The Central Unit for Curriculum Development and Learning Methods held the first meeting with representatives of the curricula sub-committees in the faculties
* Planning a professional development program for faculty members and the supporting staff of the Faculty of Archeology entitled “competence-based learning”
* Holding an introductory meeting between the unit of curricula and teaching methods and the faculty members of the Faculty of Archeology
* Supporting and upgrading the capabilities of faculty members to deal with the modern learning environment
* Determining the training needs of faculty members and the supporting staff in the field of curricula and teaching methods
* Designing curricula committees in faculties within the university and providing them with continuous support
* Analyzing the modern global trends in the field of university education
* Preparing a list of indicative criteria for developing curricula and teaching methods
* Coordination of work in similar departments in the faculties of Ain Shams University
* Providing technical support to the College of Nursing
* Developing university requirements courses
