Ain Shams University Council honored the team of the IIOE Egypt National Center, in its December 25 session, headed by Professor Mohamed Diaa Zein El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University. The team of the IIOE Egypt National Center, headquartered in the Education Development Department at Ain Shams University, was honored for winning the UNESCO-ICHEI digitalization pioneer case award 2023, under the auspices of the UNESCO-ICHEI International Center for Innovation in Higher Education, for the center's achievements in the project titled “Empowering Higher Education Institutions for Digital Teaching and Learning in Egypt”, which is one of the center's activities.
In the presence of Professor Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prophylaxis Affairs and member of the University Council, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr, former Minister of Local Development and member of the University Council, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and the other members of the Council.
The working team consisted of: Professor Mona Abdelaal Elzahry, Executive Director of the Education Development Department, Director of the IIOE Egypt National Center and Head of the Project Team, Dr. Dalia Youssef, Director of the Central E-Learning Unit and Deputy Director of the IIOE Egypt National Center, Prof. Hani Youssef, Head of the Training Department at the Central E-Learning Unit, Dr. Heba Shawky, Project Coordinator at the Central E-Learning Uuit, Assoc. Prof. Doaa Anas El-Molla, Member of the Central E-Learning Unit, Dr. Aya Abdel Latif and Dr. Mohamed Yousry, members of the project team.
Professor Mona Abdelaal Elzahry, Executive Director of the Education Development Department, Director of the IIOE Egypt National Center and Head of the Project Team, received the award during the activities of the Global Forum for Partners of the International Institute for Distance Education organized by the UNESCO International Center for Innovation in Higher Education in Shenzhen, China.
The UNESCO-ICHEI digitalization pioneer case award 2023 aims to support innovative projects that have an impact in the field of digital transformation in higher education. 140 projects from 83 educational institutions from 42 countries around the world applied for the award, and the IIOE Egypt National Center team was able to win the award.
